How do coupon fanatics accumulate such a nice stack of coupons?

I have been asked by several how I collect such a nice stash of coupons and thought it might be a good idea to make a post regarding such a topic. Feel free to let me know of any ideas you have on collecting coupons and I’d be more than happy to ad to this post.

  • Subscribe To Your Local Newspaper: This is probably one of the most common ways to get coupons, I have found that most the time you can get the Sunday paper only delivered to your home for just $1.00 a week. This doesn’t require any gas to run to the store to pick up a paper and it’s delivered right to your driveway. There are so many deals out there, I wouldn’t pay over $1.50 a week to have the paper delivered to your home, lately I’ve found many deals out there that the local newspaper is offering to have the Sunday only delivered to your home for $1.00 a week only.  Check with your local newspaper about getting the coupons only if you aren’t interested in the newspaper, they may offer a deal, or see if your newspaper can deliver multiple copies of the paper for a fraction of the regular cost.
  • Buy Retail: Get an early Sunday paper on Saturday or the Sunday paper on Sunday at your local retail store, such as Kroger, Walmart or Target. Typically these run any where from $1.50 to $1.75 a week. My latest find is the “99 Cents Only” store in my area carries the Early Sunday and Sunday paper for just $0.99 a week. This is a much better deal than the regular $1.75 a week I was paying for the paper.
  • Purchase Coupons Online: Web sites such as The Coupon Clippers or The Master Coupon. Be cautious when purchasing coupons online because it can easily go overboard. However, I have heard of many people savings lots of money this way by purchasing the only the coupons they are interested in.
  • Ask Around: Family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers may be willing to give you the coupons they don’t use. Many people purchase the newspaper and aren’t interested in investing the time it takes to utilize the coupons that come with the newspaper. You might be surprised how many people are happy to provide the coupons to you each week. Personally, I’ve been able to acquire three copies of the Sunday coupons this way.
  • Check Your Local Recycle Bin: I’ve heard this is an excellent way of getting lots of free coupons, however haven’t been able to experience it myself due to my area not having a recycle bin available to the public. Check it out if it’s available in your location and let me know what your success is?
  • Get Coupons From The Store: Often times you will find tear pads or dispensers that offer a variety of coupons. I’m sure you’ve found yourself not interested in them from time to time because you do not need that product right away however, if you go ahead and take a coupon now you’ll have it for future use. Take several while you are at it incase there is a great sale in the coming weeks on that particular product and may want to stock up while it’s on sale, multiple coupons will make it an even sweeter deal.
  • Print Coupons Online: There are lots of coupon sites out there that offer printable coupons, most of the site have a limit on the amount of times you can print a coupon. My husband is very good about printing coupons from work for me so I can add them to my stash and save even more money. Often times you have to be a member of the site to print a sites coupons, this hasn’t been a problem for me however, be careful of the gimmicks that want your credit card information, these are not sites you want to participate in, close your browser immediately if you find yourself here! I plan on providing links to my printable coupons that I have used in my purchases, these are sites that I trust and have been able to take advantage of their free Internet printable coupons.

There are many ways to obtain lots of coupons for your savings, these are just a few I’ve listed here in hopes that they will help you and help spark lots of idea on obtaining multiple copies of coupons.

I’d love to here your ideas and favorite ways of building your stash of coupons.
